The Expanse Timeline

The Expanse has recently entered public consciousness thanks to the arrival of the SyFy series, which has gone on to stand beside some of the greats, including Battlestar Galactica. This is the Expanse timeline and episode order.

What’s on the Expanse Timeline?

The Expanse timeline consists of all of the books written by James S. A. Corey, which is a pen name for novelists Daniel Abraham and Ty Franck, who co-write the series. The books were picked up by SyFy as a television series, which has well-received so far. Though the series was cancelled after three seasons, it was later picked up by Amazon Studios to continue on their Prime streaming service.

You can also find a few short stories and novellas to flesh out the story, particularly a few that act as prequels to the main series. As with any of our timelines, please let us know if there’s something else we can do to improve upon what we have. We welcome all new feedback.

Where to Start the Expanse?

There are two logical places to start the Expanse. One is the first book, Leviathan Wakes. It, after all served as the beginning of the series. But if you’re not prone to extensive reading, the series is also a great place to start. It’s very well done, and covers the same time period as the books.

Of course, for those more familiar with the story, why not start chronologically? There are a few stories that take place before the main series and the show. As always, if you liked this timeline, be sure to check out some of our others, such as the Battlestar Galactica timeline.
