The Clone Wars 1.10: Lair of Grievous

Our Review

I’ve gone on record before saying that I think Grievous is a weak villain. It doesn’t make sense that someone put in charge of the entire Separatist armies would have so many defeats and run away all the time. If you give me the Grievous from the Genndy series, that I could get behind as a mean, bad villain. But this Grievous…meh.

Thankfully, it seems the creators of The Clone Wars were aware of this sentiment, because they decided to put Grievous to the test in this episode. It portrays Grievous as a much more fearsome adversary than we previously assumed, and it was nice to see that Dooku was also doubting Grievous’ success rate, with his long string of defeats.

This episode is tense and exciting. Some parts are a bit over-dramatic, but not in a way that detriments the story at large. Overall, a good episode.
