Publisher's Summary

A King (played by Georges Méliès) shows up at his new castle where he is haunted.

Our Review

The Haunted Castle is considered to be not only the first horror film, but the first vampire film as well. It’s a few minutes long and employed some of the first special effects. For example, they often cut forward to make it look like someone is magically appearing out of thin air, even though in reality the actors would have just frozen in place while the appearing ghost or vampire would come on stage and then they’d cut that part out. It’s another first in film history, and actually a little bit entertaining.
